Genoa is a historic port city on the Italian Riviera, with a rich cultural and artistic heritage. Its medieval alleyways, known as caruggi, open onto grand squares and reveal centuries of history.
The symposium takes place at Via Balbi 5, the main headquarters of the University of Genoa. Originally built in the 17th century as a Jesuit College, the building features a grand courtyard, a marble staircase flanked by lions and hanging gardens.
Via Balbi forms part of the historic setting of Genoa’s Strade Nuove and Palazzi dei Rolli, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
